Written to be read, not to be survived. It says exactly what we collect, exactly where it goes, and exactly how to make us delete it.

1. Who operates this site
This site is operated by Malakar Consulting, a sole proprietorship operated by Sudip Malakar. Where this policy says “we” or “us”, it means that operator. You can reach a real person at smalakarmail@gmail.com or +1 (574) 849-1438.

2. What we actually collect
We collect only what you type in, and we tell you which mechanism handles it. There are exactly two.
| What | When | Where it goes | Kept |
|---|---|---|---|
| Email address | You subscribe to the Signal Desk briefing | Stored on this website’s own server, in a directory that is not readable over the web. No third-party marketing platform. | Until you unsubscribe |
| Name, company, email, phone, and whatever you write in the message box | You submit the contact or quote form | Stored on this website’s own server and emailed to the principal. | Until the enquiry is closed, then deleted on request |
Alongside a subscription we also record the time you subscribed, the page you subscribed from, and a random token used to process your unsubscribe request. That is the complete list.
3. What we do not do
- We do not sell, rent, or share your details with anyone.
- We do not run advertising trackers, analytics pixels, or third-party marketing tags.
- We do not set cookies for tracking. The site uses no cookies for advertising or profiling.
- We do not build a profile of you, and we do not enrich your record from other sources.
- We do not use your information to train any model.
4. Server logs
Our hosting provider (IONOS) keeps standard web-server access logs — IP address, timestamp, page requested, browser type. These are generated automatically by the hosting infrastructure, are used only for security and troubleshooting, and are subject to the provider’s own retention schedule. We do not use them for marketing.
5. Third parties the page loads
Two things on this site come from outside our own server, and you should know about them:
- Google Fonts — typefaces load from
fonts.googleapis.comandfonts.gstatic.com. Google may log the request. - News publisher images — thumbnails in the live signals panel are served from the publisher’s own servers (WSJ, Bloomberg, FreightWaves and others). Loading an image makes a request to that publisher.
We do not embed social widgets, chat scripts, session recorders, or advertising code.
6. Your choices
- Unsubscribe — use the link in any briefing, or the unsubscribe page. It takes effect immediately and needs no explanation from you.
- Access, correction or deletion — email smalakarmail@gmail.com and ask. We will act within 30 days and confirm when it is done. There is no charge and you do not need to justify the request.
If you are in a jurisdiction with statutory data rights (for example the EU/UK under GDPR, or California under the CCPA/CPRA), those rights apply to you and the same email address is how you exercise them. We do not discriminate against anyone for exercising them.
7. Commercial email
The Signal Desk briefing is commercial email. Every message we send will identify the sender, state why you are receiving it, carry a working one-click unsubscribe, and include a valid postal address, in line with the U.S. CAN-SPAM Act. If any message we send fails to do that, tell us and we will fix it.
8. Security, stated plainly
The subscriber list is stored outside the web root’s reachable path and is configured to return HTTP 403 to any direct request. The site is served over TLS. That said: this is a small practice on shared hosting, not a bank. Do not send us anything through this website that would be damaging if it leaked — commercially sensitive detail belongs in a call or under an executed NDA, and we will happily sign one.
9. Children
This is a business-to-business site. It is not directed at anyone under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their information.
10. Changes
If this policy changes materially we will change the effective date at the top and, for anything that affects how we handle information already collected, notify subscribers by email before it takes effect.
